How to Play
To submit your picks, follow the instructions below:
- To begin, navigate to the pool page at www.tournamentpools.com and select the SEED8 2010 contest from the left side of the menu.
- Once there, click on Picks to access the pick sheet, and now you can submit your picks.
Scoring and Winning
- At the pool page, you can access the player picks by clicking the Standings button on the main menu.
- You can view your own picks at any time; however, you can only see the picks from other players once each game has started.
- The Standings menu contains several informative reports. The standings will be updated in real-time throughout each day of games.
Scoring System:
- This is a Survivor pool where you pick 1 team for each day of the NCAA Mens's Division 1 Basketball Tournament.
- You may only pick a team 1 time throughout the tournament.
- If your team wins, you advance and you can't pick that team again. If they lose, you're out.
Tiebreakers
- If 2 or more people are in the lead with the same number of wins after everyone is eliminated, the pool manager will 'revive' all the people who are tied for the lead (with the same number of wins) and let them keep picking until there is only 1 winner.
- If the tournament ends before a winner can be determined, then it will be considered a tie.
- At any time, the remaining survivors may vote to end the contest and split the cash prize evenly between the survivors. In order for this to take effect, it must be a unanimous vote!
- When a player makes a winning pick (technically advancing to the next day) but doesn't have any teams left to pick, that player is still in the running and will only be knocked out when someone else in the pool makes another winning pick.
- It is the eventual number of winning picks that determines who wins the pool.
Deadlines
- The pick deadline is currently set for 5pm and this will be your daily deadline unless the pool manager changes it.
- The pick deadline may be later than the first game time of each round. You can never enter or change a pick for a game that has already started and you can not enter or change picks after the pick deadline.
- You may enter and change your picks until this time.
Prizes
Official prizes to be determined based on the total number of paid entries. Last year there were 50 entries.
The estimated payout for 2010 (based on last year) is as follows:
Sole Survivor(s): $1050
Running 232OfficePools takes time & money, so a small portion (15% of prize money) will be used to offset my expenses & time. This includes, but is not limited to: domain registration, hosting fees, PayPal, banking fees, pool software, web design software, and other miscellaneous expenses.
Autopicks
This pool does not use the autopick feature.
Confirming Picks
It is your responsibility to confirm that your own picks are accepted by the website. You can do this in a number of ways including
- The pick confirmation email that is emailed to you.
- By returning to the pick sheet to see that your selections are bolded. The picks shown on the website after our deadline has passed are your final picks.

Other Info
I reserve the right to make changes to the Rules midway through the competition in order to maintain the integrity and fairness of the pool. This could include adding new rules, doing away with rules, and making changes to incorrect results or standings. Changes will only be made if absolutely necessary, and we will hold a vote for any major issues, if possible. Any changes to the picks or results will be flagged in the Standings, so you will know if any changes are made.
